9th Epsom (St Joseph's) Brownies

extract from the Winning Post, May 1999

The Brownies have had a very busy term that started with the Pack holiday at Blackland farm, East Grinstead. We had super weather and we were joined by the Brownies from St Anne's and St Clement's and some of our Guides.

We have hosted mascots from America, Canada and Australia, whilst our mascot - Hooter - has been travelling around America and Canada and has only just returned. Her diary is full and there are loads of pictures and leaflets to look at as well as lots of activities to do. We are sending her on her way to Australia. - where she will be much warmer than here as it is their summer time.

We continue to support Barstow Wildlife Sanctuary and welcome any old clean bedding, towels and dog and cat food which we will ensure gets delivered. With the cold weather they have needed plenty of everything.

The girls were carol singing (outside Sainsbury's) in support of the Division appeal for the Nicaragua Disaster Fund - over £600 was raised. They also went to sing carols for the elderly residents of Oak Lodge - where they were made very welcome and were able to spread some Christmas cheer.

Girls, do you want to have a good time learning new skills, making new friends and having fund? If you are between 7 and 10 years old and would like to join please contact Mrs R Hemmett (via the Parish Office).
