Youth
We know that the youth of today are the future of the parish of tomorrow. We want the youth of the parish to be an integral part of the parish community, but also to carve out their own identity and bring their own slant to life in our church. The 2002 parish open meeting placed youth firmly at the forefront of the development of the parish.
St
Joseph's has begun holding monthly masses focussed on involving
the youth. We would like this to become a spiritual, but also
a SOCIAL, gathering! We are looking for opportunities to involve
the youth of the parish. We want young people to tell us what
we can do to ensure they feel involved in the community of St
Joseph's, even if that means we have to change things. We are
always looking out for people experienced with young people,
even if that is only to give suggestions.
"Do not call young people back to where you were at their age, as beautiful as that place may seem to you. You must have the courage to go with them to a place that neither you nor they have ever been before"
(An American Missionary to Youth Leader)
Activities
Youth Mass: 6pm fourth Sunday of every month (apart from holiday times). This is an opportunity for our young parishioners to meet together, share in prayer, worship, and the ministries such as music, welcoming and offertory. The Folk Choir meets just after 5.00pm so that the singers and musicians can practice for that Mass. Young parishoners are invited to join in the practice, bringing instruments or just their voices. For those who would like to be involved in any other way, please contact Sr Margarite or Chris Sibthorp. After each Youth Mass you can share a few refreshments, have a go at table tennis, or just meet up in the Hall.
