Road Stewards
by David Morrell, extract from Winning Post, December 1999.The Road Stewards Strategy Group has met twice in the last year. We now have 40 Road Stewards covering nearly 80 roads.
We have identified five roads containing numerous Catholic families but without stewards. These are:
- Alexandra Road
- Farriers Road
- Albert Road
- Manor Green Road
- Kendor Avenue
If any readers who live in one of these roads would be prepared to take on this task, please contact David Morrell (via the Parish Office).
The work in not onerous, requiring on average less than one hour per month. It involves making contact with other Catholics living in your road, identified from the parish register, welcoming new arrivals, and identifying those who have needs which might be satisfied by the Parish Team or one of the Special Interest Groups.
The Road Stewards have an annual Mass to pray for guidance, followed by a reunion to encourage the mutual support which facilitates their work.
