St Joseph’s runs a programme of preparation for children who belong to, and worship in, the parish and are over the age of 7 years and in Year 3 or above in our catholic primary school. Children not supported by Catholic Education who have attended our Tuesday sessions on the Catholic Faith in Year 2 are also most welcome to enrol in our programme.
Application forms are available during the months of June and July. Sessions begin in September. These are led by a team of qualified and experienced catechists, all of whom are CRB checked, and a member of the parish clergy. Parents are their children’s primary teachers in the ways of the faith and, as such, our programme is designed to assist them in this wonderful privileged journey of preparing their children for the sacraments.
There are some sessions (8 or 9) held on Wednesday evenings (from September to May) to help parents update, refresh and deepen their own understanding and love of the Eucharist. It is taken for granted that parents attend these sessions both as a visible support for their children and as an opportunity to engage in the development of their own faith.
