(Selina Hough), David Walsh. Apologies:
Richard Davieson, Paul Killoughery, Carlos De Souza ,John Turner,
1. Opening Prayer and Reflection from Jan Madden
2. New Nursery. There
will be a new nursery opening up at our school from 23rd February.
Jan Madden asked for our prayers and she hopes that this new venture will
respond to a need in the Parish.
3. Article in the Universe. St Joseph’s has appeared in an
article in the Catholic newspaper The Universe. The article has a few errors
but nevertheless Parishioners may be interested to read it. A copy will be put
up at the back of the church.
4. Help needed for adult formation Group. John Turner has requested not to lead the Adult
Formation Parish Group. This is not unreasonable as he in very involved in
other groups too. Thought needs to be given to possible people to approach to
volunteer.
5. Parish Meetings and links to Parish Groups. In the guidelines for setting up and
running the PPC it is suggested that we have open meetings with the Parish
twice a year. Due to the relative newness of the group and the recent
involvement with the reorganisation of the Parish Groups it was felt not to be
necessary to have two meetings this year. Rather it is better to reinforce the
links with the Parish Groups. We would like to invite Parish Group
Co-ordinators and representatives to come on a rota basis to our meetings to
allow them to express how they feel the group is getting on and more
importantly how they believe the PPC can help them and perhaps highlight their
activities within the Parish. We hope to begin with the Sacramental Preparation
Group.
6. Parish Group Update. The Social Group had a very successful
Three Kings Party. They will also be announcing the date for a quiz night soon.
The Finance Group should be meeting in February. The next Youth Mass is being
organised through the Confirmandi. The PPC to provide refreshments and table
tennis.
7. Summer Parish Day. The Parish team asked the PPC to consider
organising a parish day on the theme: A Community Afire. We were given a
possible outline from Sr Margarite and some of the Catechists to get us started
. The PPC were very keen for this to go ahead and to involve as many of our
Parish as possible. A small group will meet to firm up a date and begin to
flesh out the day and the organisation required.
8, Future Pastoral Planning. Fr Bill had asked the PPC to read and consider the deanery draft
response to the issue of reduced numbers of priests in our Diocese and in
particular to the possibility of only 6 priests in our Deanery by 2010. We
discussed how this might affect our Parish in the future. The issues involved
taking us beyond just our immediate Parish. We will return to this at our next
meeting. In the meantime the members of the PPC will consider the proposals and
forward any thoughts by e-mail to David Walsh.
Next meeting: Tuesday 24th
February 2004 at 7.30p.m. in the Chatterton Room
