            a.         Bidding Prayers – No further progress since the last meeting.  The Liturgy                                  Group will be approached.

            b.         Link with Parish in South Africa – Father Bill to be approached as to how                                 communication should be progressed.

3.         Any Other Business

            a.         Welcome - Barbara Wallace from the Diocese will join the next Parish                          Pastoral Council Meeting on Thursday 18 November 2004 to impart her                                     expertise on ‘Welcome’.  At a later date Barbara Wallace may be invited                                    to give her presentation to those interested in the Parish.

            b.         A&B News – John Sharpe tabled a draft text of the Parish Day event for                                  submission to the Editor of the A& B News.  A number of changes were                            suggested and it was agreed that David Walsh would be responsible for                                    submitting the text to the Editor.

4.         Parish Day – 25 September 2004 – It was concluded from the feedback received that the day had been a great success.  All parts of the programme for the day were well attended with about 300 people attending the Mass and Shared Supper in the evening.  Theresa Kenefick (by e-mail) had reported that the School had been involved for a few days before the event, including ensuring that teacher assistants were in attendance, this she felt was quite a strain on the School if the event were to take place each year.  After much discussion it was agreed in principle it would be desirable for the event to take place next year, building on this year’s  successful format.  Also the Finance Committee should be made aware of any expenses incurred by members of the Parish Pastoral Council, as the contributions of £83.17 fell well short of covering expenses for the Day.

The Council agreed that before proceeding further on another event:

            a.         the school would have to be approached.

            b.         decision on whether or not to have an annual event

c.                   decide date – likely to be September to suit School calendar (possibly one

week earlier)

            d.         decide if the themes and attractions would be different.

5.         Elections January 2005 – Review of Guidelines –The Chairman went through the ‘Detailed Guidelines’ of Parish Pastoral Council as some changes will need to be discussed at the next meeting.  The Chairman agreed to approach Father Bill Davern to put into action the procedure for electing members to the Council.  This would enable where appropriate new members to start their term of office in January.

6.         Other Parish Groups

a.       The new Youth Group (In Touch) had its first very successful meeting with about 30 people in attendance.

A group went to the Youth Gather Sunday at Worth Abbey, the first time a group from Epsom had attended for some years.

b.   Social GroupTony Prince gave a brief update of events that had taken place and events that have been proposed.
