Minutes of the Twenty Third Parish Pastoral Council

held on Tuesday 7 December 2004 at 7.30 p.m.

1. Opening Prayer – John Sharpe.

2. Landings Presentation – The Chairman welcomed Kevin McDonnell who had been invited to make a presentation to the Council on the Landings project. Kevin McDonnell explained that Landings had started in the United States where there is the greatest number of Catholics either practising or lapsed. Kevin McDonnell explained what Landings is, how it started, how it worked. The Council were fascinated to learn about Landings and concluded that it was an excellent project. The whole system of Landings is an extremely comfortable method for people to return to their spiritual journey in life without any outside pressures. The Chairman thanked Kevin McDonnell for his excellent presentation and gave assurance that the Parish Pastoral Council would do everything to support Landings.

3. Matters Arising from the last Meeting

Tuesday 22 February 2005 - 7.30 pm to 9 pm

Tuesday 1 March 2005 - 7.30 pm to 9 pm

Tuesday 8 March 2005 - 7.30 pm to 9 pm

The ‘Welcome’ Course would be an item under ‘Matters Arising’ on the

agenda for the next meeting to be held on 12 January 2005.

As Patricia and Liam are sharing this effectively leaves a vacancy, with the departures of Tony Prince, Margaret Rates and Alice Williams/Selina Hough (sharing)

6. Reports from Parish Groups – The interest free loan scheme suggested at the AGM will be considered at the next Finance Committee. The proposal is likely to meet with approval.

The Chairman formally thanked Tony, Margaret, Alice and Selina for their valued contributions to the first two years of the Pastoral Parish Council.

The Meeting ended at 9.10 pm.
