Minutes of the Thirtieth Parish Pastoral Council

Held on Monday 12th September at 7.30pm

2. Matters Arising from Last Meeting

Correction and Apologies – David Thorn has been mis-spelt on several occasions. This shall not happen again.

  1. Other Business

Thanks were given for Fr. Miceal's work in the Parish. Over the past years. The PPC wishes him well in his new Parish in Banstead.

Formal thanks were recorded to John Ryan for organizing the Parish Golf Day. In doing this work for the Parish, over the last three years, it was noted that it was not only an enjoyable social event for the Parish, but it had also raised over £20,000.

House groups for Advent were discussed. David Walsh to approach Colette Stowe to organise.

"Listening 2004, My Family, My Church" a discussion document produced by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference was tabled and a brief discussion held. David Walsh to obtain copies for those PPC members who would like one.

General parking was discussed including issues such as use of the school, stewards and directional signage.

With Fr. Miceal departure changes in the Parish programme may have to be considered until assistance for Fr Bill has been found. Further decisions to be advised.

4. Issues

Premises – Reminder to organize an annual check. Action with committee to set a date. David Walsh to discuss Fire Alarm & Risk Assessment.

5. General Communications

Notice boards – To be discussed with premises committee.

Display boards in lobby / atrium – Further information to be researched.

Hymn books and storage – To be raised with Finance committee. .

  1. SA Feedback

Contact made with Fr.Yarek during his recent visit, there is a will on both sides to develop two-way communications. Fr Yarek has promised to send a DVD about Parish life in South Africa, so that the our Parish will be better informed.

7. Welcome Ministry

Launch planned for 2nd October, with progress rollout programme over the coming weeks to cover all masses. Michelle Grasty is co-ordinating. Briefing notes are in preparation.

.8. Youth

David Thorn gave a positive and inspiring account of his experience with the Pope and 1.2 million other youth in Cologne. He shared the experience with four other local young Parishioners and is an inspiration for others to attend Sydney in 2008.

9. Parish Groups

Finance – Meeting next week.

Youth – Much work going on at present with activities planned for Oct. and Nov.

Justice & Peace – No report.

Premises – No specific report this meeting.

Sacramental – Start up again in September.
