  1. Opening Prayer – David Walsh
  2. Justice and Peace Group – Kathy Maskens

The focus of the group has very much been on the Make Poverty History campaign and informing the Parish on what has been happening with the campaign. The group has been heavily promoting Fair Trade and had a stall at the school’s Summer Fair earlier this year.

The group are keen to get involved in Amnesty International and are planning to do Christmas cards which they will be selling at the next Trade Craft. The aim is to get people to sign the cards and then send them off, especially keen to get young people involved. Suggestion was made for the local community to also get involved by having people in the Parish visiting local prisons and maintain our link with the Leatherhead Night Shelter.

Kathy is also keen to raise awareness in the Parish with regards to Climate Change and looking at ways the Parish and the church can help. The Finance Parish Group could perhaps reflect on the Parish "Green Energy", whist the Premises group could look at energy saving in our Church buildings.

A key role for the Justice and Peace group is to "prick our consciences" raise awareness of issues such as Fair Trade, which they have successfully done and Climate Change.
