Minutes of the Fortieth Parish Pastoral Council

Held on Monday 4^th December 2006

Present: David Walsh, Christine Bailey, Michael Brennan, Andrew Heffernan, John Sharpe, Simon Smallwood, Michael Tripp, Michelle Grasty, Jan Madden, Jaqui Rourke (Kevin Rourke).

1. Prayer and short reflection – Simon Smallwood

2. Matters Arising

• Welcome Meeting – This will be moved to an appropriate date in the new year.
• The Welcome leaflet has been produced and reviewed with suggestions for revisions being given to John Sharpe who has kindly produced this document.

3. AOB

• A new Child Protection Group is being set up to put in place procedures to cover new legal requirements regarding CRB checks.
• New volunteers will have to be CRB checked from now on. Workshops were suggested to assist these volunteers to complete the necessary forms.
• The PPC should be informed prior to any announcements regarding this issue prior to them being made public.

4. Quiz Night and Social

• The Canon Christall Hall has been booked for either the 20^th or 26^th Jan. The 26^th Jan was decided upon with a start for the Quiz Night of 7.30 for 8pm.
• Communications will start in the newsletter with John Sharpe producing subsequent posters. Further communications may be possible in the school.
• Catering – The evening will be BYO.
• Andrew will arrange for volunteers to sell tickets at the weekend masses for three weeks prior to the event.
• The next planned event is a concert on March 3rd.

5. Bruno’s Ordination

• Plans for Bruno’s ordination this Friday appear to be progressing well.

6. Premises Group Report

• The Clean and Tidy day was very successful, with a good number of volunters helping to tidy the site up.
• The new budget is in and is line with 2006 with a small income from lettings.

7. Parish Groups - update

• The sale of the Amnesty cards was a success.

• This group has decided to change their name to Community Social Care group. It was decided that this would not be a cause of confusion between them and the Parish Social Group.
