Minutes of the Thirty Seventh Parish Pastoral Council
Held on Wednesday 14th June 2006
Present: David Walsh, Christine Bailey, Michael Brennan, Andrew Heffernan, Michelle Grasty, Simon Smallwood, Liam Kirby (Patrizia Wakefield), Michael Tripp, Jaqui Rourke (Kevin Rourke), Jan Madden, Karen McAdam.
Apologies: Father William Davern, , Teresa Kenefick, John Sharpe, David Thorn.
1. Prayer and short reflection – Michael Brennan.
2. Matters Arising
We have received positive feedback regarding the Planned Giving Appeal.
It was suggested that letting bookings be left as they are for the moment and hope that the reported conflict was a one off.
The date for the Bishops talk has now been fixed as the Monday 18th September. 7.30 for 8pm with refreshments provided.
It was suggested that a reminder e-mail could be sent to all those volunteers who are in the first weeks of a new rota. David Walsh will talk to John Turner.
3. AOB
Volunteers were requested to speak at masses to ask for contributions for Father Bill’s Silver Jubilee present.
The planning appeal for the Rosebery school development has been scheduled for 25th and 26th July. The School Governors are meeting to discuss the situation from the School’s point of view.
A request had been received for a list of the Parish Groups. These are available on both our website and the diocesan website.
4. Social Events in the Parish
The social event programme was reviewed. Andrew Heffernan, Michael Brennan and Liam Kirby will come back next month with definitive event proposals.
It was suggested that a committee is set up to organise the events – Social Parish Group.
5. Update on Welcome Ministry
A new date is to be set for the welcome social evening. Michelle Grasty will liaise with Christine Turner. The proposed invitation was approved by the PPC.
The proposed draft Welcome Pack was approved by the PPC and will be sent to John Sharpe for designing.
6. Update on Annual Parish Meeting June 29th
Christine Sibthorp has agreed to give a Youth Talk.
8. Parish Day
One of the speakers booked for the Parish Day has unfortunately dropped out. Karen McAdam has kindly offered to help find a replacement.
