Held on Monday 22nd January 2007
Present: David Walsh, Christine Bailey, Michael Brennan, Andrew Heffernan, Michelle Grasty, Jan Madden, Kevin Rourke (Jacqui Rourke), Father Bruno, Karen McAdam, Theresa Kenefick.
Apologies: Father William Davern, John Sharpe, Simon Smallwood, Michael Tripp,
1. Prayer and short reflection – David Walsh
2. Matters Arising – None.
3. Election of Officers
The following officers were elected to the council:
Chair - Kevin Rourke
Vice Chair - David Walsh
Secretary - Michelle Grasty
The Council would like to express their grateful thanks to David Walsh for performing the role of Chair for the last four years, and for all his hard work and dedication.
4. AOB
- Thanks to all those who helped at the Pensioners Lunch, it was a great success.
- The Council officers have been asked to think about what they consider the role of the PPC to be, and to consider what are the strengths and weaknesses of the parish.
- Quiz Night Update
- As of the date of this meeting approximately 97 tickets had been sold for the Quiz Night. This is a great response and, although not designed as a fundraising event, at least ensures the evening will break even.
- It was suggested that a small store of wine and beer be supplied for sale in case any guests did not realise that the event was BYO.
- Social Group
It was suggested that the upcoming music evening be moved to later in the year to enable sufficient publicity. It was felt that the current proposed date was too close to the Quiz Night.
6. CRB Checks Update
- Processes and frameworks need to be put in place, communicated and followed to ensure compliance with legal and Diocesan requirements.
- People currently in relevant roles, ie youth workers, need to be CRB checked and this is currently in progress.
- Communication regarding this issue needs to be taken to the parish to ensure full awareness.
- The CRB issue is to be discussed in more detail at the next PPC meeting.
7. South Africa
David Walsh showed the council a DVD sent from Father Yareck detailing his missions work. David suggested that this matter be put on the agenda for a meeting when Father Bill will be present. It was therefore postponed from this meeting.
8. Parish Groups - update
Premises
- It was reported that, due to the recent strong winds, some of the trees in the grounds should be checked for safety.
9. Date of Next Meeting
Monday 19th February 2007
