Narthex
The
Narthex is an extension of the entrance vestibule and opens
from its right. Here is a view looking along the length of the
narthex towards the entrance. The narthex runs along behind
the backs of the seats along one side of the church (some of
the seats can be seen on the right). The narthex provides a
space for informal gatherings, access to the parish offices
and repository and for the display of Christian books, newspapers
and parish notices. It can also be used to accommodate extra
seats when necessary (at full capacity the church can seat up
to about 700 people).
This
view is from the entrance looking towards the doors which lead
to the meeting rooms and hall. The doors on the left lead out
into the St Francis Courtyard. The parish offices and repository
are on the right.
