Can this man walk 45 miles?
Fr Bill agreed to undertake a walking pilgrimage from Epsom to Arundel
during the August 2000 bank holiday weekend. Parishioners were invited
to sponsor him in his attempt. There was a tremendous response for
which, many thanks.
The walk was a great success and those who took part had a great, if tiring, time. A huge vote of thanks goes to them all.
Here's
a bit of history! Fr Bill standing in front of the old church
doors. He's about to set off from St Joseph's, Epsom for the
Cathedral at Arundel (click on picture to see larger version,

A
group of trusty followers accompanied Fr Bill. Here are three
of them as they consult the map. Who are they? Click picture
to find out!
As
you can see, the weather was kind to our pilgrims. Here they
are - somewhere between Epsom and Arundel!
And
here we see everybody (except the cameraman). Refreshed and
raring to go after a lunch stop somewhere along the Sussex border.
Every
picture tells a story. You see here the story of the lost soles!
All credit to Ian Gordon (sole owner) and his rescuers. Imaginative
use of bale twine and masking tape saved the soles!
Journey's
end! Here we see our pilgrims sitting on a semi circular bench
opposite Arundel Cathedral.
Here
they are again, this time in front of the Cathedral doors.
Thanks to your generosity, Fr Bill's sponsored walk from Epsom to Arundel has raised an amazing £8768. The Gift Aid refund from the Inland Revenue brings the final total to £9,157.
