New Church - Progress

Preparing for the Church Move

Message from Fr Bill read out at all Masses 30/7/2000

It's now some eight months since we started to build our new church, and in our Masses this weekend, we ask God our Father to send His Holy Spirit amongst us to guard and protect us in all wisdom and love; and we pray for the continued construction of the new church and community centre.

I am pleased to be able to tell you that progress on the completion of the church is going well, and this means that the time has now come for us to start preparing detailed plans for our removal from this church. In the coming weeks some items of furniture and fittings will be taken into storage until they can be installed in our new church.

This will mark the beginning of a period of change for our community. We need to start preparing to say our final goodbyes to this church and then we need to look ahead to life in a new one.

Please pray for our community as we embark on this journey. For many of us it will be a time of mixed feelings, but let's not forget that our journey will take us to the heart of our parish - to a site adjacent to our parish school where, as a community, we'll be able to help nurture the faith of our children and future generations to come.
